Change your attitude - Your thoughts determine how far you can go

This post came out from The Straits Times (2 July 2016)
Title - Change your attitude

Some pointers that I've got are:
1. Attitude is all
2. Change your thinking
3. Stay positive

On Attitude is all

  • Your attitude is the composite of your thoughts, feelings and actions. Simply put, your results in life are determined by your thoughts that created your feelings. These influence your actions and produce the results in your life.
  • One's attitude has to do with the connection between the mind and body that starts with your thinking. We create our own reality, a self-fulfilling prophecy.
On Change your thinking
  • Being aware of our thoughts allows us to change our negative thinking and cultivate a positive mindset. This enables us to achieve the results we want in our personal and professional lives, and achieve work-life balance and harmony.
  • Whether you will be affected or have already been affected by business restructuring and redundancy, it is important to stay calm. Don't despair. Everything happens for a reason. It may even be a blessing in disguise.
  • You just need to change your thinking, and ask yourself what steps you can take to discover a new dream in order to progress to the next phrase of your life and live the life you want. It may be challenging to cultivate a positive attitude, but it is going to be worth it as your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.
  • Successful people never give up, and have faith that they are much greater than their history, or their circumstances and conditions around them. They dream of a better life and realise that when one door closes, another door opens to allow them to reinvent themselves to live more fulfilling lives and become more of who they can be.
On Stay positive
  • Be mindful of the impact of a negative attitude, as it is one of the major causes of life's failures. There are people who just complain about the lives they have, blaming everything and everyone except themselves for the results they have achieved, without accepting responsibility for their lives and their attitudes.
  • Such a negative attitude is dangerous and contagious, so avoid hanging around with people who are cynical, and who complains all the time - or you risk becoming like one of them. Associate yourself with happy, positive, productive people. Your time is an asset to be managed more carefully than your money; spend it with people who share your desire to succeed and commitment to maintain a positive mental attitude.

Yours,
Something Small Thinking Big
