Title - Use your time more efficiently
Some pointers that I've got are:
1. Schedule your day
2. Have uninterrupted blocks of time
3. Stop multitasking
4. Limit the number of meetings
5. Monitor your breaks
6. Clear out your computer
7. Live, healthy
On Schedule your day
- A common time management tip is to plan your day the night before or first thing in the morning. But creating a to do list is not enough. To be highly productive, take it a step further" schedule your activities.
- This way, you attach a time to when you will complete tasks so you are likely to complete them. It is also a good idea to work on your most important tasks first. Tackling the easiest items on your to do list first is not a good idea because they are not necessarily the most important ones.
On Have uninterrupted blocks of time
- Schedule blocks of time when you can focus solely on the job you need to devote your attention to. This also include turning off your phone and logging out from your email.
On Stop multitasking
- This tip is related to blocking off interruptions. Many people believe they can get more work done by tackling more than one task at a time. However, studies show that multitasking does not work because you do not perform any of the tasks well.
- In fact, researchers at Stanford University found that people who are regularly bombarded with several streams of electronic information cannot pay attention, recall information or switch from one job to another as well as those who complete one task at a time.
On Limit the number of meetings
- Most meetings are unnecessary, not managed properly and ineffective. Often, not everyone present needs to be there. Before you attend a meeting, request for the meeting agenda - this will help to determine if you really need to be there.
On Monitor your breaks
- It is important to take breaks during the day to recharge your batteries and it's unhelpful to consistently work through your lunch hour. Deliberately build breaks into your schedule.
- But pay attention to how many five minute breaks you take during the day because they quicky add up.
On Clear our your computer
- Organise the files on your computer. How often do you waste time because you can't remember where you filed a document and in which drive?
On Live healthy
- Drink more water each day. Your body needs to be fully hydrated or you will feel very sluggish and lose focus on task you need to complete.
- Also, exercise and eat healthy so you will have more energy to work on your goals and activities.
Yours,
Something Small Thinking Big
