Title
- Paving the way to successSome pointers that I've got are:
1. Role
2. Reality
3. Results
4. Resources
5. Relationships
1. On Role
- Research the new role and clarify the responsibilities
- Understand the big picture and how it connects to the organization's strategic objectives
- Improve knowledge, issues and trends that will impact you and the organization
- >Adopt a new mindset by getting results from the team and their expertise, not yourself as an individual contributor
2. On
Reality
- Develop insights on the potential strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related
- Make necessary changes
- Keep the big picture in mind while staying open and objective
3. On
Results
- Be proactive in reaching out to bosses and key stakeholders to align various sets of expectations
- Score some quick wins in first couple of months to position yourself as an achiever, gain credibility with your boss and team
4. On
Resources
- Identify, source for and secure critical logistical resources in a timely manner
- Do eat well, rest well and exercise
5. On
Relationships
- Build your support network quickly, seek alliances and identify coaches on your team who can guide you
- Get up to speed with the communication processes in the organization and leverage on them
- Be aware of office politics and navigate with finesse by establishing which employees are supporting you, and determining those who need to be persuaded or are not aligned with your vision
- To be able to influence others, you need to have good relationships with them
